How to cool your apartment during hot weather

1. Close your windows and cover them with curtains or blinds! In this way, you can prevent heat from radiating into your apartment.

2. Air out your apartment during the coolest time of the day: in the evening, at night or in the morning, and preferably using windows that are in the shade. Cooling your apartment by airing it out is most efficient if you can create a draft through the apartment. However, take care to prevent doors or windows slamming shut by a strong draft.

3. If you have a fan, place it in a part of your apartment where you spend the most time. Never leave the fan on when you leave the room, as this will only consume electricity pointlessly.

4. Minimise the use of electrical appliances. Make sure no heating appliances are left on!
