Results of Varala’s Wellbeing Survey

18.04.2026

TOAS Hippos tenant survey conducted in March provided valuable insights into tenants’ well-being. A total of 86 tenants responded and the results clearly highlight which factors support everyday life and where additional support is needed.

According to tenants, well-being is particularly supported by physical activity, sufficient sleep, a healthy diet, social relationships, and personal time. The biggest everyday challenge identified was study-related stress, which significantly affects many tenants’ ability to cope.
Based on the survey, the most needed areas of support are recovery and sleep, stress management and mental health, physical activity and stamina, time management, and nutrition on a student budget. These themes will be addressed throughout the year through five thematic focus areas:

Recovery & Sleep (May)
Physical Activity & Stamina (June)
Nutrition & Student Budget (September)
Time Management & Everyday Planning (October)
Stress & Mental Well-being (November)

The survey also explored how tenantas prefer to receive information and support. Based on the responses, the thematic focus areas will include a wide range of practical content, such as informational materials, podcasts, as well as hands-on exercises and everyday tips. These thematic initiatives are implemented as part of a collaboration project between TOAS and Varala and will be piloted at TOAS Hippos.
