Hippos
TOAS’s largest project in its history, Hippos, is now complete. The complex consists of ten residential buildings built in phases between 2024 and 2026.
1B, 1C and 5D buildings have family apartments and completely new community studios. Community studios are 19-20 m2 apartments that are part of a group of nine apartments. Each community studio has its own kitchen and bathroom, in 1B and C houses the smaller ones also have a fixed bed, for which the resident only needs to get a mattress. The common space is the living room, where you can spend time and get to know other students. Community studios are meant for only one person. You cannot bring pets to the community studios. The other buildings have standard studios, two-room and three-room apartments, and 5E and 5F buildings have new types of loft apartments. Get to know all apartment types from the apartment listing and blueprints on this page.
All the services are now open: the saunas, laundry and laundry-lounge, parking hall, Sale grocery store and Juvenes student restaurant and SportUni gym.

There are water meters in each apartment, ie the tenant pays a water fee according to consumption. The water billing price is based on the water and electricity utility’s prices.

The waste disposal points are located in front of the entrance to building 1A on the outer arch and between 5A and 5B houses. There is a bicycle workshop and a craft room on the street level of buildings 1B and C on the courtyard side, and a music room in the basement of building 1D. The craft room and music room can be booked from One4All, and the bicycle workshop is freely available. If you need tools for bike maintenance, you can borrow a toolbox from Lainamaatti. Lainamaatti is located in the laundry lounge of building 1C (other items available for loan can be viewed in the One4All app). In building 1D, a large co-working space is available to residents from 8 am to 10 pm and can be used freely without reservation. The same premises also have the conference room Vonkaus and the Silent place for quiet work, which can be booked through One4All.
Every apartment has a dishwasher (excluding the community studios). Reservation for laundry machine in all apartments excluding the community studios (please check the blueprints).
Fixed furniture bed in 19m2 community studios of 1BC houses. Tenants get their own mattress for the bed, measurements are 200 cm x 90 cm.
Loft apartments in 5EF houses have their own entrance to the courtyard. Winter maintenance of the entrance and terrace area is the resident’s own responsibility. The sizes and heights of the lofts can be seen in the “apartment plans” of 5E and F. The loft apartments have ceiling lamps ready on behalf of TOAS.
