Memories of our time deposeted in the foundation stone of TOAS Hippos

TOAS Hippos, our largest new building site, is progressing at a rapid pace in the Kaleva area of Tampere. At the end of September, the foundation stone of Hippos was laid at a ceremonial atmosphere at the plot.
The programme included speeches, performances by the Teekkarikuoro choir and Alivaltiosihteeri as well as the actual laying of the foundation stone including a cylinder.
The cylinder included memories of our time: an Aamulehti newspaper from Friday 30 September 2022, a one-euro coin from 2022, the TOAS 2021 annual report, a face mask, an at-home Covid test, the main schematics of the first part of Hippos on a USB memory stick, a horseshoe, both current and old TOAS’ overall patches and a bag of TOAS’ own liquorice.
TOAS Hippos is built in collaboration with Hartela Pirkanmaa, the architecture firm Helamaa & Heiskanen, Granlund and A-Insinöörit.
