Don’t freeze, TOAS will keep you warm!

The beginning of the year has been rather cold, like winters always used to be. However, temperatures have fluctuated quite a bit, which may also have caused fluctuations in indoor temperatures, even though heating is adjusted with the aim of keeping the temperature at the recommended 21 degrees Celsius.

We monitor the temperatures through a remote system. The monitoring center is alerted of changes in temperature and charts the situation accordingly.

Is your apartment cold?

Start by checking the radiators and measure your room temperatures from the middle of the room around 120–150 cm above ground. Remember that you should not place furniture or draw thick curtains in front of radiators because they stop the heat from spreading to the room.

Is the pipe leading into the radiator warm but the radiator cold?

The valve might be shut or blocked. Rotate the thermostat back and forth a couple times and leave it on at full power. Check again after a few hours. If the radiator is still cold, submit a fault report.

Is the radiator making a bubbling sound?

The radiator most likely has air in it, so submit a fault report.

Is the radiator cold?

Check whether the thermostat has a curtain in front of it or if a computer or some other device is blowing warm air directly into it. Do not cover the thermostat with furniture a curtain or any other items. If you do, the thermostat will not be able to record the correct temperature in your room, and its settings will be incorrect. You should also keep in mind that simply feeling the radiator does not tell you everything. Your apartment may have the recommended temperature, even if the radiator does not feel hot.
